There are, in the Canadian vocabulary, two four-letter words of questionable pedigree - snow and lawn. Two words, that have cost more than one Canadian a visit to the chiropractor. That's where Kodiak Snowblowing and Lawn Care Inc. right here in Kanata come to the rescue. Initiated by Ann Benson with partner JP Giasson, the service promises accessible and affordable snow removal in the winter and stellar lawn and yard care for the summer. "There is not one time that I've ever had to worry about getting out in the morning," says Barbara Foster, who uses the snow blowing service and likes to get to work early. At this time of the year Kodiak is winding down the lawn care side of things, which also includes hedge trimming, pruning, and interlock services. As the season comes to an end, they're focused on pre-winter lawn care, clean up and like. In the meantime the snow blowing side of the business is gearing up for the approaching season, with promotional offers for early bird subscribers and referrals. "I've had experience with other contractors in the area and I ^nd that Kodiak has a great business plan and business ethic," says Bernie Mason, a long time customer. "They really are a neighbourhood company, they don't treat me as a customer but as someone of importance." It is that emphasis on customer satisfaction that drives this growing company. "The one thing we're very proud of as a company, and that Kodiak prides itself on, is doing a great job and being reliable, and dependable - when we do make a mistake we're quick to correct it," says Chris Mullins, manager lawn cutting division with the straightforward honesty that defines this unique company. Kodiak's snow removal service begins November 1 and ends April 15, and covers nine feet of snowfall, or 275 cm of precipitation according to their superbly laid out website. Using tractors and commercial snow blowers, Kodiak snow blowing is quieter than the average walk-behind snow blower and the trained drivers are extraordinarily conscientious about following the markers they set out to delineate boundaries between driveways and grass. Since they also provide driveway interlock service during the summer their winter service is interlock friendly. Snow removal fees while reasonable are also carefully managed according to Benson. "We hold each customer's money in trust for the season," says Benson, "and we manage the money to the end of the season in the best interest of the customer." Most important of all, they are deeply conscientious when it comes to heavy snowfalls and the dreaded ridges that city snowplows leave behind. "I'm just amazed, because they'll come back three times in one day," says Foster. Kanata Kourier - Sep. 22/2011
