Basic security training (BST) and licensing are mandatory requirements for security service personnel in British Columbia. These mandatory requirements are governed by the BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. Successful completion of the BST course qualifies students to apply for the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General security licence. Effective March 1, 2009, there has been an official provincial curriculum change to the BST course. The new course is now five days (40 hours) and replaces the BST 1 and the BST 2, and combined BST courses that were previously offered. See the BST course outline here.
