Established in 2005 as a public foundation and registered charity, Canada Gives offers customized Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) and provides committed philanthropists new ways to support their funding to the charitable sector. Canada Gives DAFs, called “Foundation accounts”, are designed to help donors adopt a total charitable giving strategy that addresses both the immediate needs of charitable programs with longer-term and sustainable funding solutions. Our unique donation platform enables donors to allocate any gift between today and tomorrow’s funding needs, and build their own foundation for charitable giving. In 2012 Canada Gives expanded its charitable giving services to include funding for projects outside of Canada, aimed at relieving poverty in developing countries. This is an ideal solution for donors that have philanthropic interests with non-Canadian charities but have previously been unable to benefit from Canadian tax considerations.
