According to the recent report of the Migration Advisory Committee, retaining the post-study visa for international students in the UK is important. The report showed that 114,000 graduate-route visas were granted for international students and another 30,000 for their dependents. The graduate-route visa is highly attractive to potential students; thus, scrapping it could jeopardize STEM subjects and lead to course closures due to reduced income from international student fees. The lower emphasis on ORIENTATION and MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES could suggest that while these areas are important, the immediate practical needs of managing finances and career planning are top priorities for students and the institutions that serve them. These insights challenge educational leaders to think strategically about resource allocation, ensuring that scholarship programs and career development initiatives are robust and responsive to student needs.
